Partner Interview: Le Pestacle de Maëlou
In this article, we have the pleasure to introduce Se Eng and Christine, the founders of Le Pestacle de Maëlou, kids’ concept-store and e-shop based in Paris. Discover the story of two mothers simply wishing to share their favourite discoveries with other parents. They also tell us more about their must-visit places in their city, in case you are planning a visit to the French capital.
What is the story and the spirit behind your concept?Le Pestacle de Maëlou is a family, warm and uninhibited kids’ concept-store, founded in 2010 by two moms. Our desire? To offer a constantly renewed selection of pretty, authentic, useful and quality products. A mix of rising designers and must-have brands, in furniture, decor, dinnerware, toys, linen and accessories, there is something for everyone!
What do you particularly like about your city? A place that inspires you?Paris is a city where anything is possible and at almost any time.
The places that inspire us? The parks and gardens of our neighborhood, Les Batignolles. Les Batignolles Square on the one hand, inspired by English gardens, for its carousel, its petanque grounds and beautiful views. Martin Luther King Park, on the other hand, which is more comtemporary and more modern, for its relaxed spirit and family atmosphere with lots of different play areas for children.
What do you recommend doing there on a sunny weekend or a rainy weekend?Paris is vast! But in our neighborhood of Les Batignolles, we love going for walks on sunny weekends, through the parks or the nice Place du Dr. Felix Lobligeois. Stopping to have a quick bite sitting on a terrace or to have a fresh juice at Dose and a delicious cookie at Scoop me a Cookie.
On a rainy day, there is the big cinema of the Place de Clichy! Or the workshop option. There is something for everyone in our neighborhood: cooking workshops for young and older ones at Noémie’s (Les secrets gourmands de Noémie), creative sessions at La P'tite Fabrique and even optimism workshops at L'Optimisme ;-)
What are your recommended spots for children and parents to eat?- Dose, a small café in the Dr. Félix Lobligeois square that offers daily specials and delicious fresh fruit juice.
- Scoop me a cookie for those who want to indulge.
- Les fils à maman: a super nice decor and home made comfort food.
