Make a Snow Globe "step by step"
Create your very own swirling winter wonderland inside a jar! This simple craft is magical, sparkly and perfect for gifting......or keeping by the twinkling tree.
What you’ll need:
✓ Glass jar (with lid)
✓ Cardboard
✓ Paint (optional)
✓ Wool
✓ Twigs
✓ Glitter
✓ Baby oil (for slow, dreamy snowfall)
✓ Craft knife
✓ Scissors
✓ Glue gun
Step by Step
1. Create your winter scene
Cut a small circle of cardboard to fit neatly inside the jar lid.
Now cut out a little festive feature for your globe - a little house, a cheerful snowman or a classic Christmas tree! You can add a real twig for the tree trunk.
2. Decorate
Decorate with textures and patterns or paint it however you like, then, once dry, glue it firmly to the centre of your cardboard circle.

3. Make the snowy ground
Take your wool and fluff it out so it looks soft and snowy.
Glue it down around your mini scene to cover the cardboard and create a cosy snowy ground effect.
4. Add the snowfall
Fill the jar with baby oil first.
Then sprinkle in a little glitter - not too much, unless you want a full-on snowstorm!
Just enough to create a gentle magical flurry.
5. Seal the magic inside
Carefully glue your cardboard scene into the jar lid.
Screw the lid tightly onto the jar, sealing your winter world inside.
6. Shake and shine
Turn your snow globe upright and give it a gentle shake…
Watch your tiny scene sparkle as the snow drifts softly down!
Tip: For a snow globe that lasts, instead of cardboard, use materials that don't break down in the oil.
